User Stories

Problem Icon

Based on the research results and the key findings, I created these main user stories to state the user’s needs:

  • As a returning customer, I want to see my personalized dashboard displaying recommended products based on my previous selections.
  • As a conscious shopper, I want to effortlessly filter products based on specific sustainability criteria such as "Sustainability Score", giving me a quick overview of its environmental impact.
  • As a time-efficient shopper, I want an app to feature clearly defined and easily navigable shopping categories aligned with sustainability, so that I can see distinct sections such as "Recycled Clothing".

Ideation

How can I address user’s needs?

Competitive analysis is a key aspect when in the beginning stages of an SEO campaign. Far too often, I see organizations skip this important step and get right into keyword mapping, optimizing content, or link building. Capitalize on low hanging fruit to identify a ballpark value added activity to beta test.

User’s preferences

As a solution to cater to diverse user preferences, the category page has been thoughtfully designed to go beyond traditional product categories. Users can now explore specialized options like organic clothing, recycled items, and products featuring our Greentag Criteria directly. This ensures a personalized and intuitive shopping experience, aligning with individual sustainability preferences and eco-friendly choices.

Sustanability

As a solution to address users' sustainability needs, I introduce the 'Greentag Criteria'—a comprehensive eco-rating system categorizing products into three tiers: Ecolite, Ecoplus, and Ecoprime. This transparent and easy-to-understand system empowers users to make informed choices, thus supporting a greener and more conscious shopping experience

Initial User Flow

Social media often feeds into the discovery of new content such as news stories, and “discovery” is a search activity.  Many people also perform searches at social media sites to find social media content.

Design

Moodboard

In the initial stage of design, I explored and analyzed existing eco-friendly apps and websites to draw inspiration for my project. The primary goal was to identify design elements, color schemes, and visual styles that harmonize with sustainability and convey a strong sense of eco-consciousness.

Design Rationale

I Utilized nature-inspired imagery, a clean and minimalist layout, and an earthy color palette to create a visually appealing and user-friendly interface, illustrating sustainable brand identity that resonates with environmentally conscious consumers. The selected colors and branding elements were intentionally chosen not just for visual appeal but to evoke specific emotional responses, aligning with the eco-friendly theme.

Color schemes

Earthly tones, including greens, and muted browns, were carefully chosen to evoke a connection to nature. Selecting green as the primary branding color conveys a strong association with nature, growth, and sustainability, fostering a positive and eco-conscious emotional response among users.

Branding

The selection of the name "Alpynn" not only resonates with the app's eco-friendly theme but also draws a direct connection to Switzerland's Alpine landscapes, symbolizing the nation's pristine and environmentally rich mountain regions. The fusion of "Alpine" and "Pynn" creates a distinctive brand identity, uniquely tailored to evoke the natural beauty and sustainability ethos associated with Switzerland, thus enhancing its appeal to environmentally conscious consumers in the Swiss market.

I tried to maintain consistency in branding elements, including logos, color schemes, and typography, across different sections of the app, fostering a unified and recognizable brand identity.

Design System and Style

We created a design system that would not only build the consistency but also save time for the client as they build new features. This will improve the overall process and experience for the website.

Reflection

Through this case study, I am inspired by the potential of design to drive positive change in both the fashion industry and environmental sustainability. I've also learned the critical role of user-centered design in fostering conscious consumer behavior and promoting sustainable practices. Moving forward, I am excited to continue exploring innovative solutions that prioritize both user experience and ecological responsibility in ecommerce design.

As I look towards further development and next iterations, I'll prioritize these key considerations:

As this design marks the first iteration, my next considerations involve prioritizing usability testing and A/B testing. This will enable a thorough evaluation of my design solution and implementation strategy.

In this initial design phase, time constraints prevented the creation of user personas, empathy maps, and user journey maps. However, I recognize their significance and plan to prioritize their development in the next phase for a deeper understanding of our audience and an enhanced user experience."

In the next design iteration, I will further prioritize accessibility considerations to ensure the app is inclusive and user-friendly for individuals with diverse needs and abilities. This involves conducting thorough accessibility audits and implementing improvements to guarantee a seamless experience for all users.
